Corfe Castle, in Dorset, is caught in the warm glow of the setting sun. There has been a castle here since Saxon times. The ruins we see here are what remains after its defences were destroyed at the end of England's civil war in the seventeenth century. Parliament decided it was too dangerous to be leftstanding!
